Patrick Kenzies detektivbureau er ikke nogen stor forretning, men takket være sit lokalkendskab og sin opvækst med de samme typer, der nu driver den lokale narkohandel og småkriminalitet, eller som bare er sunket til bunds i udsigtsløse jobs, social nød og misbrug, er han god til at finde folk og få dem til at tale. Han og kæresten/partneren Angie regner dog ikke med at kunne gøre meget for at finde den bortførte 4-årige, som politiet har eftersøgt i to dage. Men det kan vel ikke skade, som familien siger...
